Michael Adams has been art director at Basler Zeitung in Switzerland since 2001. Previously, he worked as art director at Der Tagesspiegel in Berlin. He has worked as designer and photographer for several newspapers. Since 2006 he has been the Swiss coordinator of SND’s region 16.
John Belknap is creative director of The Jewish Chronicle newspaper in London. Moving in 1992 from New York to London, he has been art director of Blueprint magazine, The Sunday Telegraph Magazine, Sunday Business, the European and the Daily Express. As a design consultant, he has redesigned many papers in his career.
Tim Goheen, art director for MCT (McClatchy-Tribune) Graphics since 1996, supervises visual artists and editors for the international wire service. A visual journalist for more than 20 years, he has received numerous SND and Malofiej awards and in 2005 - 2006 was a Knight Fellow at Ohio University’s School of Visual Communication.
Christopher P. Winner is editor and publisher of The American magazine, an English-language monthly based in Rome, Italy, and circulated with the International Herald Tribune newspaper. In three decades of journalism, he has been USA Today European correspondent in London, executive editor of The Prague Post and editor of the Rome Daily American.
The Fifth Judge: In past competitions there have been four or five judges for the Category One jury. This year five were invited but one confirmed judge was unexpectedly and regrettably unable to attend when she had a family emergency come up at the last minute — too late for a qualified substitute to be identified, invited and flown in.
