Round Two of the World’s Best-Designed Newspaper competition is in the books, as they say. The judges came, saw, and voted down more than 2 out of every 3 entries that survived Friday’s first cut, resulting in only 14 headed into Round Three. The heaviest scrutiny will begin Sunday morning in Syracuse, when the process to determine finalists begins.
The judges have retired for the evening — surely visions of newspapers will dance in their heads. The streaming web-cam has been shrouded. The downloading and editing continues. And we brace for the news of the 2007 World’s Best.

Appreciate you keeping us up to date. Looking forward to hearing the judges speak about their selection criteria. Hope we can convince them to come to the fall workshop in Las Vegas, too!
Videos are coming. No, really… It’s been a long day of coverage, and has become a long night. The judges all had great commentary to share about what they’re seeing and looking for. Now I just need to harness all my print powers to make the web/video world comply a little.
Excellent coverage. So exciting to be live.
The commentary from the judges means a lot to us.
